http://www.forbes.com/finance/mktguideapps/personinfo/FromPersonIdPersonTearsheet.jhtml?passedPersonId=189030

“Well known entrepreneur Mort Fleischer has announced the formation of a new company, Ranch Communities of America (RCA), offering a revolutionary new lifestyle concept at an unprecedented value with numerous amenities in a retirement and recreational residential real estate community.

The dynamic vision for RCA results in a concept that will fill a "product void" for truly affordable living in an environmentally sensitive community focusing on recreation and retirement living for the middle-income market of all ages.

According to Fleischer, there has never been a community developed like RCA. He believes that today's homebuyers are looking for small town, country-style western living, rich in retirement and recreational amenities with a premium focus on lifestyle.

"Our concept for building Ranch Communities of America, at the scale and price point for the middle income America buyer, is as revolutionary as when Del Webb introduced the Sun City concept to the retiree market 40 years ago." said Fleischer.”

“Fleischer, who serves as President and CEO of RCA, sees the same potential in RCA that he did with his last venture as CEO and founder of Franchise Finance Corporation of America (FFCA). His success with FFCA has been well documented, taking the company with capitalization of $150,000 and building it into the largest independent chain store single tenant real estate finance company in the United States. FFCA was listed on the New York Stock exchange and was sold to GE Capital in August of 2001 for approximately $2.5 billion. Fleischer believes that FFCA's incredible success is attributed to the fact that it filled a capital void in the financial market that it addressed, and he believes that RCA will enjoy the same success because it will be filling an underserved product void.”

Alex J. Mandl

Principal, ASM Investments

Mr. Mandl is a principal in ASM Investments. ASM Investments focuses on angel/VC early stage funding for companies utilizing technology as a differentiator in primarily the data/telephony sector.

Previously, Mr. Mandl served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of  Teligent, and built a new communications company that set out to revolutionize the marketplace with an unprecedented offer to customers – simplicity, service, savings and speed – all from one company, all on one bill. Using its advanced, digital SmartWave™ technology, Teligent offered business customers significant savings on local, long distance, high-speed data and dedicated Internet access in major markets throughout the United States.

Mr. Mandl joined Teligent in August, 1996, when the company was little more than an idea, and Mr. Mandl took on the challenge of literally building the new company from scratch. Under his leadership, the company first offered stock to the public in November, 1997 and began serving its first customers in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and other major markets in October, 1998.

Prior to Teligent, Mr. Mandl served as President and Chief Operating Officer of AT&T where he was responsible for directing the company’s long distance, wireless and local communications services, as well as its Direct TV, credit card and Internet businesses.

Before becoming AT&T’s president, Mr. Mandl was the company’s executive vice president and chief executive officer of its Communications Services Group, where he was responsible for the company’s core long distance and wireless businesses.

Earlier, he served as chief financial officer and group executive. In that capacity, he directed AT&T’s overall financial strategy, policy and operations and oversaw AT&T Capital Corp. (an equipment leasing company), as well as AT&T’s corporate purchasing, real estate and information systems functions. During his tenure as CFO, Mr. Mandl orchestrated AT&T’s successful, $11.5 billion acquisition of McCaw Cellular, and supervised its integration into the company.

Between 1988 and 1991, Mr. Mandl was chairman and chief executive officer of Sea-Land Services, Inc., the world’s leading provider of ocean transport and distribution services. Under his leadership, Sea-Land nearly doubled in size and became a highly profitable company.

Mr. Mandl began his business career in 1969, when he joined Boise Cascade Corp. as a merger and acquisition analyst. He held various financial posts with the company during the next 11 years. In 1980, he joined Seaboard Coast Line Industries, a diversified transportation company, as senior vice president and chief financial officer. After Seaboard merged with Chessie Systems to become CSX Corp., Mr. Mandl was named senior vice president in charge of corporate development and human resources, and chief information officer. In addition, he had operating responsibility for three transportation and information technology subsidiaries.

Mr. Mandl serves on the boards of Dell Computer Company, Pfizer, In-Q-Tel, the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley and Willamette University. He is on the Council on Competitiveness, the Chase Manhattan Corporation National Advisory Board and a board member of the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research.

J. Joe Ricketts

Chairman and Founder, Ameritrade Holding Corporation

J. Joe Ricketts is chairman and founder of Ameritrade Holding Corporation. Over the course of his career, Mr. Ricketts has been recognized as an international leader in developing new services for the self-directed investor.

In 1975, Mr. Ricketts was a founder of First Omaha Securities, a retail securities brokerage firm in Omaha, Nebraska. Among the first to enter the discount securities marketplace, the company, through the use of innovative technology and marketing, has grown significantly and evolved into its present corporate structure. Today, Ameritrade Holding Corporation is a recognized national leader in securities trading and clearing.

In 1982, Mr. Ricketts was the first person to achieve a “No Action” letter from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) allowing a member of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) to share commissions with a financial institution. This milestone opened a new era in the securities marketplace by establishing third-party discount brokerage services for financial institutions, banks, savings and loans and credit unions and presently operates as AmeriVest, Inc.

In 1988, Mr. Ricketts introduced the first quote and order entry system using a touch-tone telephone, now a common practice.

In 1994, he established Ceres Securities, Inc. with its $18 flat rate trading, which rapidly became the fastest growing firm in the nation. In 1995, Mr. Ricketts purchased K. Aufhauser & Company, Inc. and its WealthWeb, the first firm to offer securities trading over the Internet, receiving the first order in August of 1994.

The year 1996 saw the introduction of the first computer software to make available the tools of institutional investing (program trading and basket trading) to independent investors via the nationally acclaimed Accutrade for Windows software. Later that same year, Mr. Ricketts established eBroker; an Internet-only brokerage firm that grew rapidly as Internet-savvy consumers discovered the convenience of discount brokerage on the Web.

This multiple-branding strategy, designed to test cost reduction, service and pricing levels through different companies, produced invaluable marketing information. The new, consolidated brokerage firm Ameritrade, Inc., launched in the fall of 1997, was built from this wealth of market knowledge. Ameritrade brought together Ceres, Aufhauser and eBroker into one new firm with a magnetic combination of services and the lowest pricing in the marketplace, designed to build market share with the best value for its customers.

In 1998, Mr. Ricketts introduced an option trading simulation game called Darwin: Survival of the Fittest. In 1999, he brought OnMoney, an Internet based financial services mall, to the marketplace.

Mr. Ricketts was a member of the District Business Conduct Committee of the NASD, District No. 4 from 1996 to 1999. He currently is on the Board of Directors of the Securities Industry Association (SIA) as well as a former member of the SIA’s Regional Firms Committee and Small Firms Committee.

Willard C. Butcher

Former Chairman and CEO, JPMorgan Chase

(“The 1975 to 1976 recession created difficulties for banks, as many companies failed and real estate values plummeted. Rockefeller and Willard C. Butcher, who had been named president in 1972, confronted the problems directly. They quickly put problem loans on nonaccrual status and immediately charged off loans once it became clear they would not be repaid.”)

http://www.jpmorganchase.com/cm/cs?pagename=Chase/Href&urlname=jpmc/about/history/chase

Banking has changed radically over the past fifty years, and few people have witnessed more of those changes than Willard Butcher, the retired chairman of the Chase Manhattan Corporation.

After graduating from Brown, Butcher spent forty-three years at Chase, ten of them as its chief executive. As a young credit officer ably handling loans for a number of large commercial clients, Butcher came to the attention of David Rockefeller, a banker-statesman of legendary stature who was then Chase’s chairman. Butcher was eventually chosen by Rockefeller to head the international department, one of the bank’s most exciting and prestigious units. In 1972 Rockefeller promoted Butcher to president. It was a difficult time for Chase. The bank was facing a period of declining earnings and aggressive competition. Under Butcher’s leadership, however, earnings returned to healthy levels and Chase surpassed its archrival, Citicorp.

“Bill Butcher took an organization that was flat on its back,” one analyst noted several years ago, “and brought it back to respectability, more than respectability.”
