The Papyrus of Ani, Chapter 133

Text:

To be spoken on the [first] day of the month:

Words spoken by the Osiris scribe Ani, true of voice in peace, true of voice. He says,

Ra ascends on his horizon, his company of gods after him, and the god comes forth from the hidden place.

Food falls from the eastern horizon of heaven at the word of Nut, and they are adored on the ways of Ra, the great ancestor.

He surrounds [you]; may Ra, who is in your shrine, bind you together.

You consume breath; you devour the north wind; you cause the belly to devour your thirst on the day when you kiss truth.

You divide the followers, and the boat sails, hastening to the great ones at your word.

You count you bones; you assemble your limbs; you turn your face toward the beautiful west.

You are come there, and you are renewed every day.

Behold this image of gold, having union with the disks of heaven; having trembling.

You encircle [heaven?], you are renewed every day.

O you who rejoice on the horizon, come down your rope!

As for the gods in heaven, they have seen the Osiris Ani with true voice; may they give him praise like Ra.

As for the Osiris scribe Ani, the prince, the Crown of Egypt tests [him] to count his stings.

As for the Osiris Ani, true of voice, may [he] be sound again in body, at the head of they who are in the presence of Ra.

As for the Osiris scribe Ani, true of voice, may he be sound on earth and in the underworld.

As for the Osiris scribe Ani, true of voice, may you awaken and be sound like Ra every day.

May the Osiris Ani, true of voice, not delay; may he not remain still in this land forever.

How good it is to see with the eyes, and to hear truth, twice, with the ears!

As for the Osiris scribe Ani, true of voice, he returns, he returns to Heliopolis.

The Osiris Ani, true of voice, is as Ra. Holy are the oars of the followers of Nu.

The Osiris Ani, true of voice, has not said what he has seen, and has not repeated [what he has heard], Osiris in the secret house.

The singers of the Osiris Ani, true of voice, praise the god, the limbs of Ra in the boat of Nu.

Let the ka of the god rest as it desires; the Osiris Ani, true of voice in peace, true of voice as Horus, great of forms.

Speak [these] words over a boat of 7 cubits in length made of green stone for the divine Council. Make a sky of stars, purified and cleansed with natron and incense. Indeed, make an image of Ra upon a new plaque painted red and placed at the front of the boat. Indeed, you will make an image of the glorified spirit which you wish to make perfect [and place it] in the boat. Cause it to sail in the boat of Ra, and Ra himself will see it there. Do not do it before anyone except yourself, your father, and your son. Let them guard over their faces, and he will be seen in the underworld as a messenger of Ra.
