The Afghanistan - America Foundation is seeking highly
motivated college and graduate students for full- or part-time
internships. Established in 1995 and chaired by former Congressman
Don Ritter, the Afghanistan - America Foundation is a Capitol
Hill-based non-profit, non-partisan organization devoted to
facilitating dialogue and education on nation-building and
democratization in Afghanistan, South and Central Asia.
The Afghanistan - America Foundation's Washington Office
serves as a research and information center as well as a point of
liaison to U.S. policymakers and others concerned about Afghanistan
and the region. In addition, the Foundation is currently in the
process of releasing a White Paper on U.S. Policy Toward
Afghanistan to serve as a guide for policymakers on this
critical issue.
In the work place, interns will work with staff members who have
extensive knowledge in foreign policy and the non-governmental
sector. The internship provides students interested in international
careers with unique opportunity to gain direct experience in one of
the post-Cold War era's most protracted and destabilizing conflicts.
Interns are expected to conduct research and program
development, demonstrate solid writing and oral skills, and attend a
plethora of government hearings, briefings, press conferences and
other public forums.
Technical Interns are expected to update and edit the
Foundation's website at foundation.htm,
provide minor troubleshooting, demonstrate solid writing and oral
skills, conduct online research, data entry and basice office
duties. Knoweldge of HTML a must and familiarity with NT Servers
